The Portuguese sloop has fled south. Our army, led
by Colonel Wellington, has been replenished to
full strength from Fraser's reinforcements. I have
ordered it to march into Alentejo and crush the
Portuguese resistance there. Fraser and his ragged
regiments have been ordered into Andalusia. There
should be no Portuguese forces there and I expect
Andalusia to immediately fall to us.
On other diplomatic fronts I have mixed news.
Disturbing Russian army movements in Sweden and
Finland have alarmed the Norwegian locals. They
are paranoid after so many Danish war
declarations. I have sent reassurances that the
Russians will not invade, but I cannot convince
myself fully of this just yet. Savoy has accepted
peace for a modest sum under the requirement that
it be spent on British raw materials.
The English military academy continues to pour out
fresh regiments of Line Infantry as ordered.
