The recruiting offices could not keep up with the flood of volunteers as a new battalion of Fusiliers were ordered into service. Military brass breath a sigh of relief as the general assembly has finally agreed to increase the size of the standing army.

Reports come raining in as Spain and Portugal have open hostilities. A bloody battle has been fought on the southern plains of Andalusia as the Spanish were sent reeling in defeat as they lost 2 battalions of light infantry and another of Line. The Portuguese are now in firm control of Andalusia but also seem to have suffered severely as they lost more than 80% of their militia corp.

The Spanish sloop Santisima Trinidad was seen in the Bay of Biscay with full sail heading south for the coast of Portugal. With news that war has broken out, the assembly has agreed to raise another battalion of Fusiliers to bolster the size of the army in case the war comes farther north.

The assembly seems to have taken a new stance on the war between Spain and Portugal. They continue to increase the size of the army and whispers abound that France will soon enter the war as this conflict cannot continue as it will upset the balance of power on the Iberian peninsula. With this new attitude, another battalion has been ordered into service but of Voltigeurs whose training remain unmatched in the army and will take longer than that of Fusiliers.
