One of the areas Imperial Glory
leaves Total War far behind is the
map design. The other area is the
fact that when you attack a region
two or three times, you always end
up attacking on the same map. So
for the first time you can rely on
this happening, unlike Total War
that only did this for specific
locations.
For this reason you might want to
play a few quick battles to check
out the terrain in certain regions.
Not the historical battles, they
appear to use slightly different
maps.
You can learn which regions offer
the attacker or defender the
biggest advantage and choose to
make your stand there or attack
only regions where you know the
defender has a disadvantage. Areas
such as Saxony are not great for
either attack or defense but
Hanover is great for defender, in
the case of an AI defender its good
for the player doing the attacking
too because the AI has no concept
of how dangerous that river is to
cross.
If you try and cross the river with
the enemy waiting on the other side
your dead basically. Its only safe
to cross when your the first to
reach the bridge the enemy has not
arrived yet. |
